Mark Bowman

Lieutenant General Mark S. Bowman is the former Director Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) / Cyber, Chief Information Officer, Joint Staff, J6/ CIO, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He developed C4 capabilities; conducted analysis and assessments; provided Joint and Combined Force C4 guidance, and evaluated C4 requirements, plans, programs and strategies for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
 
Most recently, he served as the Director of Architecture, Operations, Networks, and Space, Office of the Army CIO/G-6 for establishing and maintaining strategy, policy, and guidance to build, integrate, communicate, and facilitate the seamless implementation of the Army’s network (LandWarNet) in a Joint and Coalition environment.
 
Lieutenant General Bowman was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 28 May 1978. He has served in several joint and operational assignments and has commanded at every level from company to Signal Brigade.
 
Lieutenant General Bowman has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Norwich University, VT, where he received his commission. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg University, PA.
